Oh Canada! 9.6.09

What is it about going through customs at the border of a country that can make one nervous feeling? Maybe it's all of the pointed questions, like you are a criminal or something? And we were all quite silly about it, too. The custom's officer wasn't very friendly. He asked us the "normal" questions while looking through our passports. One question was, "Do you have more than $10,000 with you?" And some of us replied, "We wish!" Thankfully he wasn't offended by our nervous humor. But he did tell us that none of our passports were valid because we didn't sign them. He handed them back to Pat without wishing us a good day, but he did let us through. This was the first time I've ever had a passport so I had no idea we were supposed to sign them. It makes sense, but I had no idea! We all felt this [ ] big. And that was accompanied by more nervous laughter.

I forgot to mention what it was like going back to the USA at the end of our trip. Once the US custom's officer found out Quent and I were from Alaska, it was like he thought Pat and Sara picked us up in Alaska and we drove down. So there were all of these questions for us Alaskans. It was hilarious! I have to admit were were all pretty excited to be back in our beloved country!
