A Pleasant Day

I took Wednesday off since the weather was nice and I had to use some vacation before the end of the year. I started a little after 7am, while it was still dark. When I broke out of the timber, a cloud enveloped the landscape for quite some time. Eventually it began to dissipate and reveal the lovely landscape.

Smooth, soft forms.

Ski tracks.

Christina said "Wow" when she first saw this photo, it didn't strike me quite the same way but then I posted a version of this shot, among a couple others, at another site and was amazed by the many responses. The sun shining on the fog in the valley creates a pleasing atmosphere in my opinion. I hung out here for about five minutes enjoying the changing light on the mountains as the fog moved through the valley and the occasional splash of sunshine on the opposite ridge.

Snow Forms

A field of white Christmas trees.

This is the trunk of the tree on the right side of the previous frame.

When I crested the ridge I was treated to this spectacular scene. The Pacific was glowing like an internally lit sapphire, surrounded by pure white.

Time to Ski!

Tracks on the ridge.

My destination for the day, the North Wrangell High Country Shelter.

My "new" skis as I prepare to make my way down the mountain. The skiing was great and the skis performed beyond my expectations. They were great, and the powder was soft and deep.

As soon as I started to move down the mountain, the cloud/fog came in. It eventually lifted but first I had to wait for a little while.

Christina's 3rd vacation

I was blessed to take another trip to Michigan to visit family and friends. Since this was a last-minute trip because of using vouchers, I was able to keep my plans a secret from some of my family. And oh boy, were they surprised!! Here are the pictures of my trip in order this time from the beginning to end. For those of you looking for Alaskan pictures...please excuse these. Ha!

My cousin's son, Nevy. His expressions after going down the slides were priceless.

Her sweet little girl, Abby.

My cousin and her family. Nevy's expression and his lips make me laugh when I see this picture.

Still Fall!

Yes, I have an obsession with leaves! Haha! (Scroll down to see more) These parts of Alaska don't have the autumn colors that the midwest has...not even close! So I was a wee-bit excited when I saw some trees still holding onto their color.

Katie-babe

Maybe I've taught her how to make too many funny faces. Nonetheless, here are her expressions I caught while she was swinging.

Happy Thanksgiving!

My sisters and brother dressed up for Thanksgiving. I thought it was so cute!

Waking up to the sound of a shovel sure makes one get out of bed fast! I thought this Thanksgiving snow was so beautiful!

Walk with Grandpa

I spent some time with my grandparents when I was in Michigan. One morning Grandpa and I went for a walk around the yard and here are some of the pictures I took.

My love for leaves continues...

I've always wanted to take an upclose picture of red berries in the winter and I finally had my chance!

And continues...

Pair of leaves.
