Kisses 1.24.13

I said we should kiss one another's cheek, and she did!  So sweet!

Activities 1.23.13

Jeralyn is having a lot more fun with some of the activities I set up for her.  It's fascinating to see her growth over the last few months and how much she has progressed in understanding how things work and go together.  And I know I will continue to be amazed as time goes on.

I find that she needs something to do for a little while between her nap and dinner.  I ask her, "Would you like to do some 'table time'?"  And she very enthusiastically nods her head and I set her up with an activity.  Sometimes the activity isn't a success because of her lack of interest or because she would rather eat it.

On this day she was eager and excited to put the clothespins and pipe cleaners into the holes on the top of the yogurt container.  She did this 3 times!

And then later she asked for the cloud dough.  We think she actually said "cloud dough" or some form of it.  When we guess correctly, she nods and nods.

She's getting a little better at not eating it.  We put a towel on the floor because of the mess.  She is willing and eager to sit and wait for the cloud dough container to join her on the towel.  So cute!

Finger Painting 1.21.13

I found this idea on Pinterest to finger paint with yogurt.  So I added some food coloring and away she went.  She was mostly interested in eating the yogurt, but she did understand the concept of painting with her fingers.  But she was enjoying eating it much more than playing with it.  Silly girl!

P.S.  I think she looks a lot like me in these photos!  (=

Outside with Mama 1.18.13

It's been raining a lot here lately.  This particular day was pretty decent (for Southeast Alaska standards), so we played outside on the deck for a little while.  She had fun!

Super funny! 1.18.13

After Jeralyn's time playing in her pack-n-play, I walked into her room and noticed right away that her shirt was bulging out.  I started laughing!  She had taken these fabric squares that I let her play with and she stuffed them in her shirt.  I'm not sure how she got the idea, but she's been doing it ever since.  And it's not just fabric pieces now, it's magnets, stuffed animals, and I even found 2 rubber bands that she stuffed into her pajamas (we aren't sure where she got the rubber bands).  It's super funny to us!  Where does she come up with these things?

Silliness 1.11.13

Jeralyn is SO much fun!  She always has been, but now she's interacting with us much more, so it's so great! She is finding ways to make us laugh too, and we can tell she likes to make us smile and laugh.

Here she is playing with some of her kitchen toys.

And I can't remember how this happened, but I was sitting on the floor and she "attacked" me.  I loved it!

Butternut Squash 1.11.13

This is quite random, but I wanted to share anyway.  Last year I was peeling a butternut squash and I had this weird reaction after peeling it. My hands had this orange tint to them and felt tight.  And it was like they looked dry.  So I "googled" it and found out I was having an allergic reaction, which can also happen with acorn squash.  This never happened before, so it was quite a surprise.  So now when I peel butternut squash I wear gloves.  Ha!

Bedtime Story 1.10.13

We have to travel back in time a little bit because I forgot to post pictures in order.  That's what happens when you have two cameras in use.

I know I've mentioned this before, but I will mention it again: Jeralyn loves books!  She often will sit down in a chair or on the floor and flip through a book.  We can ask her where things are on a page and she will point them out--which I think is super cool!  And sometimes we do a book blanket time in the evening with her where we put her on her blanket with some books, and she's just so content to sit there for awhile and look through them.  She definitely has her favorite books, too.

This picture is what happens each night right before we put her in the crib with Shelly and turn off the lights:

Smile 1.15.13

She doesn't let teething get her down though!  And look at that hair!  It's really growing!

Sick 1.14.13

Jeralyn was well for a couple of days and then got sick again, but it may have been because of teething.  One of her eye teeth (incisor) popped through.  So now she has 13 teeth!  The other 3 incisors are on their way!

Berries 1.13.13

Jeralyn still loves blueberries.  And now she says, "blueberry", but it sounds more like "baby".  I love her little voice!

Me 1.10.13

Hello!  It's me!  The one who keeps this blog up to date.  *takes a bow*  Haha!

Sweet Girl 1.10.13

Reading Buddy 1.10.13

Quent started to feel sick the day before we left California.  And then he didn't go back to work the first week we were home.  And he really didn't feel like himself until a few days ago.  Nasty stuff!  So he rested a lot and read.  And Jeralyn would often find her way onto Daddy's lap with a book of her own.  And sometimes Tigger would join in, too!

Little Welder 1.6.13

If anyone needs any welding done...you know who to call.  *smile*

And this concludes our trip to California!  Next trip...Hawaii?  Yes, please!!

Joshua Tree 1.5.13

Quent, Natasha, Chad, Mikaela, and Judah (a friend) spent the day in Joshua Tree.  I stayed back with Jeralyn as both of us weren't feeling well.  It looks like the gang had a great time seeing the sights and rock climbing:

Josiah 1.4.13

I love this photo of Josiah. What a sweetie!

January 3, 2013

We played some rounds of a game called "marbles".  It reminded me of a cross between the game Sorry and Trouble.  And it worked best for me to be on the same team as Quent.  We all kept joking about how it wasn't one of those games that builds up your marriage.  Ha!  At least for us competitive folks!

Mikaela and Josiah

Josiah taking a bath...with a mohawk!

This is out of order...but it's some of the many wonderful treats we had to enjoy.
