Spur of the moment ride 11.21.12

I'm a planner by nature.  I don't do well with spontaneity.  I know...what's wrong with me, right?  So when Nate called Quent and asked if we wanted to go on a helicopter ride in 20 minutes, my immediate response was, "I don't have any desire to ride in a helicopter."  I know....  I can hear you all gasping.  I'm terrible with last-minute, spur of the moment decisions.  Nate is a helicopter mechanic for Temsco, so this would be a free ride.  After some convincing on Quent's part (and some help from Annie), I gave in to the pressure.  And so we went...

Yours truly in front of our ride.

I liked it right away...of course!  I got to sit in the front next to the pilot.  Quent and Nate sat in the back.

The Mendenhall Glacier below us.  We flew over the ice fields.  Or is it just singular "field"?  It was amazing! Beautiful!  I'm SO glad I went!!

The flat part is the field.

Mendenhall...this picture is out of order.

This was my favorite part (above).  They are called seracs.  I wish I could give you dimensions of these deep grooves in the ice.  Trust me when I say they are big and deep!  And a beautiful blue!

Heading back toward town.

At one point I started feeling motion sickness, even though it was a smooth ride.  And then after Quent asked me to take a picture with his camera one time I really had to hold it together.  Later on Nate said that he couldn't tell if I was having fun or not.  I told him that I was trying to focus on not getting sick.  Ha!  I truly enjoyed the 1 hour ride!  People, Alaska is amazing!  AMAZING!!!

Babies and little babies 11.21.12

We flew to Juneau to celebrate Thanksgiving with Quent's brother Nate and his beautiful family.  More pictures to come...

Jeralyn eating applesauce.

Little Aurora.  She's a replica of her daddy (minus his beard).

Cloud Dough 11.18.12

I posted about this earlier, but wanted to share some shots that Quent took with his camera.  There was a lot of finger-licking going on.  Silly girl!

Ward Lake 11.17.12

We went on a walk around Ward Lake one morning.  They were doing trail maintenance in one part and there were these big rocks on the trail...

Blanket Time 11.17.12

We do this thing with Jeralyn called 'blanket time'.  I lay out a blanket with some toys, and right after breakfast she sits on the blanket for 20-25 minutes.  Since 13 months she has learned to stay on the blanket the entire time.  I set a timer and when it goes off I make a big deal about it and tell her she's "all done" with blanket time.  It took a lot of work and redirecting her to get to this point.  There were times it was frustrating to redirect her 20+ times, but it was SO WORTH IT!  Blanket time comes in handy.  For instance, I just used it when we were in an airport awaiting a flight.  I didn't have a blanket, so I used Quent's jacket.  I told her it was blanket time and she sat on it contently with toys and a snack.

iPhone Photos October/November 2012

We canned two batches of applesauce. The first batch was my favorite using two kinds of apples, Honeycrisp and Gala or Fuji (I can't remember).

Jeralyn having a little too much fun with rolls of toilet paper.

A toy tunnel at the store.

Trying on sunglasses.

A batch of oatmeal peppermint cookies.

Pigtails!

A picture Jeralyn and I colored for my nephew Samuel's [belated] birthday.

Jeralyn thought it would be fun to take mom's cooking chocolate, Jello, and other miscellaneous items out of the lazy Susan.

I knit this hat for Jeralyn in like 2 days.  I bought the crochet flower from Etsy because I don't crochet.

Jeralyn playing with a ball of yarn.  Note to self: this might be keep her entertained, but it's too hard to wind the yarn up again.  Oops!

A little project I knitted.

Election day

Pumpkin cookies

Playing with some cute fingers!

Oops!  I walked out of the house in my slippers (again)!  I did this again this morning.  *blush*  At least Jeralyn had her shoes on.  Ha!

Video: Piggy Giggles 11.11.12

I figured it out!  Here is that video I was talking about in the previous post:

Giggles 11.11.12

Jeralyn has this little stuffed piggy that I was throwing up in the air and making really dramatic sounds as it went up.  She thought it was hilarious!  Quent took video of it with his camera, but it will probably take me awhile to figure out how to get it into YouTube viewing.  Until then, there are some pictures of what took place:

P.S. This post was supposed to go out yesterday, but Google informed me that I had used up my 1G of usage for photos, so I had to upgrade our storage on Google.  I'm surprised that after almost 8 years of having this blog and all of the thousands of pictures we have uploaded that it's finally telling me this.

Play Date 11.11.12

I invited my friend Jamie and her two youngsters over for a play date for a couple of hours this Sunday morning before church.  It was a lot of fun and I hope we do it again soon!

This is her daughter, Taryn.  She will be 3 in the beginning of December.  I watched her part-time when she was 3-4 months old.  I can't believe she's almost 3!

And this is Jake and Jamie.  Jake is 9 months.

And here is Jeralyn with a stuffed piggy under her shirt.  *smile*

Deck Play November 10, 2012

Quent spent most of this day with Jeralyn as I was away.  It looks like they had fun playing on the deck.

"Caw!"

So sweet!

She pushes this cart back and forth on our very long deck.

Clipping Nails November, 2012

This is probably one of those posts that is more for family/friends who live far far away.  It's a picture of a one little detail that takes place about 1-2 times a week.  *smile*  She's usually calm when I clip her nails, but she has her moments.  Sometimes Daddy has to distract her or I give her something to hold with the other hand.  Sometimes the distraction is one of the cats.
