Prince Rupert 6.12.15

On Friday, June 12th, we hopped on the ferry to Prince Rupert.  It's about a 6 hour ferry ride.  We got a berth (room) on the ferry, put the kids to bed, and tried to sleep ourselves.  We arrived in Prince Rupert, British Columbia in the wee hours of the morning with just a few hours of sleep under our belt.  After driving off the ferry, we waited about 1-1/2 hours in line to get through the Canadian customs.  That was interesting because the kids were awake about 2 hours before we got to our hotel and could put them to bed once again--but they did awesome!  In those 2 hours, we were scolded by another ferry passenger (who Quent thinks was joking, but I do not) and then we had to give our apples to the border control officer.  Apples can be pretty dangerous, I suppose.  Haha!

We did all manage to fall back asleep once we arrived at our hotel.  It would be the last time we would sleep on a real bed in 11 days.

And so began our 2015 British Columbia family vacation:

Quent enjoyed the last of the evening light on the ferry while I stayed with the kids in the berth.  At one point the ferry was rockin' and rollin'; I was just thankful to be laying down.

More to come soon!

Knitted Blanket 6.6.15

Many months ago, I started knitting a blanket.  It was a gift for a friend.  It's the softest blanket.  I think I'm going to have to find a pattern (or the same one) that uses the same yarn because it's so soft and cozy.  In fact, I pretty much refuse to knit anything that's scratchy.

The color was hard to capture on camera.  So if you can sort of combine the photo above and the photo below, that's the color.

Jeralyn was my model for these photos.  Silly girl!

Little Listeners 6.4.15

Both of the kids love being read to.  Jeralyn is really into Fancy Nancy books right now (just think princess, glitter, glam, colorful) and Josh likes books that make farm animal sounds, or truck sounds, or has a song tied in with the book.  In fact, if we try reading a Fancy Nancy book to both kids, Josh wants OUT OF THERE!  Ha!  Not his thing.  Haha!  We love that they love books!

Big Boy 6.1.15

We've had a few requests to update the blog.  Cough.  Yeah...we are a little slow these days.  We went on a vacation in Canada in June and I'm waiting for Quent to edit those photos.  Summer is busy.  So hopefully he will edit those photos soon (I don't like editing scenery photos).  But I did manage to find a few photos I haven't posted yet.  So in the meantime:

I think Josh is playing with a canning lid in this photo.  He likes anything made of tin (not that it's made of tin, but it has that similar sound).  At the library, there's a tin can that holds these princess and knights the kids can play with and he finds that tin can every time and wants to make a bunch of noise with it.  And since it's a library, I take the tin can away (yeah...mean mom moment).  Well, unless it's story time and then there's so much noise that it doesn't matter.

Josh had his well-child exam a couple weeks after this photo was taken and he is a big boy.  90-something percentile for weight/height.  He towers over some 2 year olds at 15 months (he's now 16 months).  He LOVES music and to dance.  If there's music playing, he's right there listening to it and bopping away (videos to come soon).
