My friend Janae and her family (Jason (husband), and children Cori, Gavin, and Zach) were in Ketchikan awaiting the arrival of baby Owen. They live in Wrangell. For liability reasons, the hospital in Wrangell doesn't deliver babies, so at least two weeks before the due date, the mother has to go somewhere else to have the baby. Most mothers to go Ketchikan or Juneau. So after being in Ketchikan for 2-3 weeks, it was time! I offered to watch the kids while she and Jason were in the hospital. I picked them up around 5:30 and took them to McDonald's, and then we went to the park.
We picked up Quent from the airport ferry and then drove over to Totem Bight park where we walked/ran around. It was a beautiful evening!
Quent took the boys into the woods to be boys while Cori and I stayed on the path and talked.

We went to McDonald's again because Quent and I were hungry. We also got the kids ice cream. We drove back to our house afterwards because we hadn't heard from Jason or Janae. There was a message on our machine saying that Owen was here! We drove back to the hospital and as we were getting out of the car Gavin threw up...all over himself! Poor guy! I guess he had a migraine, which I wasn't aware of. So our car smelled like mint chocolate chip ice cream puke for awhile! Ha! After we cleaned him up and gave him a shirt of Quent's to wear, we walked up to the maternity ward and met baby Owen.
The kids were in awe of their new little sibling. Jason was right down there with them just admiring his little one! Janae looked awesome! She didn't even look like she just had a baby! We were impressed!
A couple of days later we had Janae, Cori, and Owen over for dinner. It was nice visiting with them again!
