Wrangell Peak Excursion

My brother Nate and I took a 3 night/4 day trip to the mainland to ski up (and down) Wrangell Peak.

We were dropped off at about 2:30 pm and as you can seem from this photo the sun was setting. We made it to the primary ridge before having to turn on our headlamps and then hiked and skied in the dark until about 9pm. We certainly could have made better time if we had been able to see a little more but then we would have spent a day hiking instead of skiing and who wants to do that?

We made camp in the neighborhood of the Peak. Probably just under the 3000' mark. Nate wandered around the following morning as I made breakfast and melted some snow. He took this photo of our camp during his wanderings.

A difficult little chute to say the least.
