A little while after leaving the Jackson's, we were traveling down the river near the Scud. We were going around a bend when we noticed some tricky hydraulics in the water. There were waves coming at the sides of the canoe, and also whirlpools. We were the last in line and Paula was in front of us. All of a sudden a side wave swept her underneath. My first thought was to save Paula, but then Quent 'encouraged' me to keep paddling. So we passed Paula, so we didn't join her in the water. I felt so bad for her. Her husband Dave swept over and it took awhile to get her out of the water. It was also tricky to fetch her kayak. We all met at the nearest sunny beach so Paula could change into dry clothes. We didn't have to go too far to find our next camp.

Dinner was made by Steve and Dan. And they sure put on a feast! We had stuffed onions, which is like meatloaf cooked inside an onion. They stuffed the onions, wrapped them in aluminum foil, and put it on the campfire coals. It was delicious! Paula shared some of her chocolate mint brownies with us. Yum!
