We were pleasantly surprised to find it rather warm on the Arctic Circle and the bugs weren't bad at all. (We are still trying to figure out if the bugs are *that* bad in the summer in the interior. Being that we are from the midwest, we have seen MANY evil swarms of mosquitos in Michigan and Wisconsin--so either what we hear about AK bugs aren't really that bad or we missed the worst part. But then again, we read that mosquitos are known to keep the herds of caribou moving along the tundra.)
