Christina imagines this to be a Hawaiian island rather than a small Alaskan island in the middle of winter.
This group of photos were taken from a Boeing 737-400 as we returned home from Ketchikan on February 22nd. We took advantage of the clear skies. I believe Petersburg gets its municipal water from a lake near this mountain on Mitkof Island. Looks like some pretty good skiing to me.
Although it appeared calm, there was a lot of wind blowing out of the Stikine River valley. When we passed behind the wind shadow of Kadin Island the change in wind speed became very evident.
