Toward the end of April I came up with the idea of going over to Prince of Wales (POW) for a weekend getaway together. It would be like a mini-vacation before baby comes since we wouldn't be going on any big vacations this year. We took the 3 hour IFA ferry from Ketchikan to Prince of Wales and drove about 45 minutes to the 12 Mile Arm Road and cabin. It was a beautiful, isolated spot. The cabin is one of the most beautiful cabins I've ever seen. It was spacious and the skylights provided a lot of light in the cabin. And the best thing was that it was sealed, which means there were no little critters visiting us! I wasn't very comfortable sleeping at night, even sleeping on 3 layers of sleeping pads. On the ferry ride over I developed some weird right rib discomfort (which continues still 3 months later because of baby--ha!), so I was learning to deal with that. We stayed 3 nights at the cabin.
The first morning we walked around while the tide was out. We found all sorts of sea creatures and plants.
Quent found this cute little crab.

We brought our canoe, so we did some canoeing when the tide was high. It was such a beautiful area to canoe around. We have some hilarious memories of one evening when we went out.
