Daddy & Daughter Hike & Camp 8.1 to 8.2.2014

Quent and Jeralyn planned a hike and camp up Dude Mountain.  They were both really excited!  Jeralyn camped when she was 13 months old, but this camping experience was going to be a whole new experience.  She's also "camped" in her Shelly (turtle) tent in the house.

Ready to start their hike!

Jeralyn carried her own backpack with her toothbrush, underwear, and a few other items.  Shelly was in the backpack for part of the hike, or otherwise held.

I love this picture!  I love the determination written all over her face.

Up at the top.  She walked around barefoot and enjoyed the view.

Optical illusion.

Climbing up a rock

Pure joy!

It's seriously so beautiful up there!  I really wish I could have been up there with them!

Testing out the sleeping bag.

So cozy!  When it was time for bed, Quent said that she kept on telling him that it wasn't time to go to bed because it was so light out.  He said he fell asleep before she did.

Quent said this was just a regular old shot from his camera!  Impressive aurora!

Good morning sunshine!  She woke up with the sun (which is quite a bit earlier than normal wake up time).  She said it was time to get up because the sun was up.

My pretty girl!

Breakfast time!  They had oatmeal.

Singing on a mountain top!  Quent said she walked around and sang, sang, sang.

On their way back down.  So proud of my girl!

Picking berries!  I guess there was a lot of stopping and nibbling on berries.

They both LOVED their time together!  On beautiful days, Jeralyn will step outside and say, "It's so nice out!  We should go for a hike or go camping."  Ha!  They had a wonderful time together and plan to do more trips.  And hopefully all of us will be camping together some day.

I'm so proud of Jeralyn doing this hike all by herself.  It's not an easy hike on parts of this trail.  It's so impressive to me that she can do it all on her own--at 2 years old!  Go Jeralyn go!
