Quent found out from the Forest Service where we could cut down our own tree. We had a map and headed out toward Harriet Hunt Lake. There were stipulations on where you could cut the tree, how to cut the tree, etc. We have only had three Christmas trees so far since being married, and all of them have been cut-down-for-free trees. So we found a place to search, parked the truck, and began trudging through the muskeg to find the perfect tree. Quent carried Jeralyn and I carried the saw. It was really pretty because it was snowing, even though we don't have snow. Ha! We found a few options for trees before we finally decided on one. Quent did the honors of cutting it down and dragging/carrying it back to the truck.
Jeralyn sat nearby while Quent cut the tree.
Cheesy smile!
At some point she found a piece of the tree bark and put it into her mouth. She didn't like the taste of it but it was hard to get out because she had mittens on.
You can see the spec of tree bark on the corner of her lips.
And then I carried Jeralyn back to the truck, which was pretty challenging. Ha! She is 25 pounds now!
