Wednesday, March 15, view of the Mendenhall Glacier taken from Mendenhall Glacier. The wind was so strong I was almost blown off the pile of gravel I was trying to stand on. Ended kneeling down and holding on. Not sure how strong that particular gust was but probably around 50 mph or so. Very cold when coupled with 5 degree temperatures.
Shelter from the cold is why I am so happy to find a sheltered area to warm my face and fingers. My shelter is an iceburg that is frozen into Mendenhall Lake.
The glacier in the daylight. Bet you can't find my "shelter burg" from the previous day.
This is what happens to airplanes when they go to heaven.
