Just to compare 3.6.12

The photo of Jeralyn in her high chair reminded me of the bottom photo of my brother Matthew.  So I found the photo and thought I'd show-and-tell.  I'm curious to what some of my family members think.  They don't look exactly alike, but some of the features remind me of my brother and I: the shape of the eyes, the mouth gaped open, the "thinking" eyebrows.  Anyway...

Jumping Jumperoos 3.5.12

I think it's time to adjust the height of the Jumperoo...

Cute Smiles 3.5.12

These pictures took place after her first bottle feeding of the day (7:30 am).  I love these purple/white striped pajamas on her!  We were waiting for Daddy to come whisk her away.

This is one of her expressions that says, "What's over there?"  It was probably one of the cats walking by.

Pretty 3.4.12

What a cute baby!

Love this shirt on her!

She likes to chew and suck on her slipper strings.  I spend a fair amount of time retying them.  Ha!

Sitting in Bathtub 3.3.12

This was Jeralyn's second time taking a bath while sitting up.  She loved it!  We gave her a little giraffe bath toy to play with and she thought that was great.

Fun 3.3.12

Not being able to lift or carry Jeralyn as I recover has been a challenge (at least for me).  Quent has been staying home from work to help me.  He is able to work from home, but he doesn't get solid work done.  So sometimes after feeding her a bottle, I have to set her on the couch to run to get things (like the camera!).  In these first pictures I gave her the cap to the bottle and she thought it was super fun to sit like a big girl on the couch.

She has been sitting up so well!  I'd say she's got it down 100%, but sometimes she does topple back, so we put the boppy pillow behind her just in case.

She probably saw one of the cats when this photo was taken. She LOVES the kitties!  She smiles and giggles   at them. She loves to pet them (which we help her do).

She likes to grab lips too!

Who's my pretty baby? 3.1.12

There's a little song I like to sing to her and when I do, she gives me a big smile:

Who's my pretty baby?
You're my pretty little baby.
Hey, hey, my pretty little baby, baby. Yeah, yeah.
Hey, hey, my baby, you are my pretty little baby.
Hey, hey, my pretty little baby, baby. Yeah, yeah.

Banana 3.1.12

So far she's only eating pureed baby food for solids.  Starting at 6 months I've been doing a little bit of what is called "baby led weaning" where I give her sticks of soft foods for her to try.  She hasn't really done much with them as far as eating goes yet.

Tooth!! 2.26.12

I'm going out of post order here...

Her first tooth finally poked through on February 26th!!  If you look closely you can see it on the right side of her smile (bottom left tooth).

Leap Day 2.29.12

Would would have thought 4 years ago that the next Leap Day I would be spending it with the most beautiful blue-eyed girl?

Hair-line 2.28.12

Remember Jeralyn's funny "Frank Baron" hair-line in the back of her head?  Well, it's gone!  I'm not sure if it disappeared while I was in the hospital, but it's gone.

The first picture is the BEFORE picture, which was taken on February 3rd.

This is the AFTER picture, taken on February 28th.  So now her hair-line is more even and her bald spot has more hair.

Feeding Faces 2.28.12

Jeralyn is starting to make some funny expressions while she eats.  First we start with her bottle and we are figuring out that if it's not a fast-flowing bottle and she has to work for it--then forget it!  She gets less serious about the bottle as the day goes on, but we try our best to get some milk in her.  Ha!  Then after she's done with her bottle, Quent moves her to her high chair where she eats some yummy homemade baby food.

I guess this is a good place to mention something else she's been doing.  It started right around this time.  She now fake coughs.  One of the first time she did it I thought it was hilarious and coughed back to her.  Well, little did I know that this was going to become a common occurrence. She thinks it's great!  We are not that impressed anymore, especially Quent.  So now when we feed her and it's not something she thinks the world of, she coughs.  But she "coughs" during other times, too, like when she's settling down in her crib before a nap.  Today I tried to hold in laughter while she coughed, but I just couldn't hold it in anymore.  Quent gave me a stern, "Christina..."  But I just couldn't help it.  She's too cute!  Even when she fake coughs.

I am also trying to be proactive and teaching her the "more" sign.  I'm hoping one day she'll catch on...I know she will, it just may take some time.
