Brotherly Adventure 4.30.11

Quent and Nate spent part of the day together Alaskan adventure style by climbing.  Here are some photos of their time together:

You can see Nate just above the falls.

Quent finding his footing.

I believe this is where he fell in.

Laughter.

Christina & Jackson 4.30.11

Have I mentioned yet that our nephew Jackson has melted my heart? I have enjoyed every moment with him! Here we are hanging out in the livingroom together.

I love his little tongue sticking out!

Zip Line Tour 4.29.11

Quent has some friends who work at the Alaska Canopy Adventures zip line, so he was able to get a really great deal for the tour.  Nate, Annie, and Quent went on the tour and I stayed home with Jackson.  They had a really great time!

Here is Annie pushing off one of the platforms.

Annie doesn't look too sure in this photo.

Nate pushing off.

One of the suspension bridges.  I'd like to go just for the bridges!  (Maybe it's the secret "civil engineer" in me?  Or maybe it's from the influence of the conversations about bridges between Pat, Sara, and Quent over the years?)

Haha!  Love this photo of Nate and Annie with their medals of honor!

Family Visit 4.29.11

For Quent's brother Nate's birthday (April 29th), Annie surprised Nate with a trip down to see us for the weekend. They flew in on Friday morning and stayed until Sunday evening. We really enjoyed our time with them and our nephew Jackson!

We went for a walk on the Ward Lake trail. (Don't worry, Nate is not a smoker...he was just picking up trash).

The three of us on the bridge that's part of the trail.

Easter 2011

My friend Laura from Wrangell was with her family in Ketchikan waiting to have baby #3, so we invited them for Easter. They had an egg hunt in our yard and shortly after we had a turkey dinner. We also had our friends Will, Jamie, and Taryn over for the meal.

Bird Walk 4.23.11

Quent and I have always enjoyed birds, but I wouldn't say we are serious birders (yet). We went on our first "bird walk" when we lived in Wrangell. Our friends Will and Jamie invited us to go on this morning bird walk in Ketchikan. At Mountain Point we saw 20+ eagles sitting on the rocks in the harbor. They were feasting on something they thought was tasty, which was probably fish.

Baby Room 4.28.11

Here are some pictures of the baby room as of the end of April:

The "browned out" frame is the first letter of Baby Smith's first name. Tis a secret!

I created this butterfly mobile. Something I thought of doing for some time. About the paint color: I LOVE orange! So I wanted an orange accent wall. It's more of a Kraft Macaroni & Cheese color, but the color has grown on me. I like it!

Insert photos here April 2011

Quent joined Nate on an Alaskan adventure in mid-April for about a week. There are lots of pictures to share...it's just a matter of when he is able to process them. Here is a little teaser of what's to come:

My husband + rope + a bridge = ADVENTURE!

Baby Quilt 4.10.11

In less than 2 days I made a baby quilt. I'm not a quilter, so I took the easiest route possible in creating this quilt. And I have to say I enjoyed the entire process!

Notice the kitty feet under the blanket? They are always so curious and "helpful".

Beach Walking 3.27.11

I think this may have been the last full day we spent in Juneau. We drove to the Douglas side of Juneau (or however that would be said) and went on a short hike/walk through the woods and along the beach.

I am 19 weeks pregnant in this photo...just a little belly.

Christina, Annie, and Jackson (in the sling). Annie is one of my favorite people! I just love her! We both kept on saying during our visit that we don't normally talk that much. I was afraid I was going to lose my voice at one point. She's just so wonderful!

Note: There are some pictures from a ski adventure Quent and Nate went on while we were visiting them.  They will be blogged...eventually.  As I've said before, the show must go on.

Yours Truly 3.25.11

We went for a drive with Nate, Annie, and Jackson before having dinner at an excellent Chinese restaurant. We stopped at these flats and took in the beauty all around us. Quent and Nate did a little unplanned rock climbing (I think they are both part mountain goat). I never realized that Juneau was so beautiful!

Jackson Love March 2011

Jackson was super close to falling asleep when Quent snapped this photo. Covering him is a blanket I knitted for him.

I love all of his expressions.

Quent's brother Nathan, Jackson's Daddy.

Here he is listening very carefully to what Aunt Christina was telling him. Before we left for Juneau my boss had told me not to get "too attached". I think she meant getting attached to Juneau, but what in fact happened was that we got attached to our nephew.

Bad Bloggers 7.12.2011

Quent and I are bad bloggers! We have pictures to post from March, but Quent has been so busy this summer that he hasn't had time to edit the RAW pictures (and I'm not about to do that--you wouldn't be impressed). I would really like to get caught up on our blog before baby comes (due August 21st), but with how things are going I'm not sure if that's going to happen. So...in the meantime I thought I would share a couple of pictures Quent's sister Natasha took of me while she was visiting with us. I am 32 weeks along in these photos (I'm now 34 weeks). We are so excited that next month we will have our little one in our arms! As so many people have put it, "Our life is about to change." And we are all for that!!! So please pardon our blog absence.
