We were finally able to see the crater! It costs an arm and leg to get into the facility, but you could probably lose an arm or leg if you tried to get past their security fence and such. Pretty serious stuff!
There's a museum alongside the rim of the crater. It's a small museum with a Subway (deli) inside. We watched a 15 minute video about the crater and then we walked around the museum. No one can actually go to the bottom of the crater (you have to be a rocket scientist to be 'eligible', I think), BUT you can take a picture of yourself in the 'model' of the bottom they set up. Um, no thanks. I want the real thing! We *could* have gone on the tour around the rim of the crater, but it took an hour to do that and we thought it would probably be the same view from any part of the rim. So we just walked outside and snapped photos instead. It was super windy!
