Final Day

Nate and the crew changed the cub's skis to wheels earlier in the day and Jay decided that it would be worthwhile to make sure there wasn't any problems with Nate's work before turning the plane over to Hombi.

This method of fueling looked familiar. Hand pump from a 55 gallon tank into the fuel tank.

Going Home

The view out the cub's window at the Chitna River (below) a couple nice pairs of skis (smile) and Mount Blackburn in the distance.

A member of the Alaska range (in the distance) kindly stops in the middle of the road for a photograph.

The Matanuska River a number of miles below the Matanuska glacier.

Dropping down into Juneau. An interesting cloud formation for sure! Ahhh, what a trip.

Missoula Views

These photos were taken from Sentinal Mountain near the "M" on the mountain. This was the first evening of my stay in the city.

Downtown Missoula.

Another evening near the top. I used long exposures to get the starburst effect. It was extreamly windy but the tree was very stiff anyway. The little torn wind sock on the top of the tree was wipping and snapping at a high rate of speed.

This was near the "L" a couple miles away from the "M"

Been a While

I've had a few trips since the last time I posted on the blog and I thought it was about time I catch up. Or at least start the catching up process. These photos are from 3-28-2008. I went for an early morning ski but didn't quite make it to the top before the sun rose which was originally my goal. There was still some nice color on the peak of Woronkofski as I ascended.

Yes, the Wrangell - St. Elias National Park photos are being processed and should be up in a little while... After I get a few on here from my trip to Missoula.

The first rays of sun hit my camera's sensor as I crested the ridge near the high country shelter.

A buried outhouse with wolf tracks nearby.

The ski in, ski out shelter is starting to get a little tight. I really had to duck down to make it through the small openings on either side of the building. A wolf found a nice spot to bed inside the shelter and a ptarmigan's wings are printed in the foreground snow.

Christina Goes Clam Digging

My friend Carly and her parents invited me to go clam digging with them. We met at 8:00 am and drove way "out the road" to the beach. The tide was really low. I had never been clam digging before so this was a new adventure. I had SO much fun!! I felt like a little kid digging in the dirt. Ha!

My friend Carly holding up a clam she found. This was the biggest one we found.

If you look real closely, you can see a little crab inside the clam shell.

Starfish?

This is some type of starfish. Carly was "encouraging" me to pick it up.

Interesting, aye?

Purple Starfish

Carly and I taking a break from clam digging.

I think this is such a beautiful colored starfish! Carly tried to pick it up, but it was suctioned to the rocks.

One bucket full of clams.

Our work is done!

Lovely Morning

I went to work early and noticed that a nice sunrise was on the way. Christina got up with the sun and snapped these pictures on March 25th.

The light was beautiful.

Tigger is getting ready to head into his cat taxi to enjoy the nice day.

March Mountains

It has been a while since I last added photos to the blog. That doesn't mean we haven't been taking them. These were taken on March 23. This is Bessie's "false peak" as seen from 8-mile beach.

The top of Woronkofski from our deck.

The great hunters... For a little while they moved their tails in perfect harmony. Christina and I were cracking up.

Unfortunately I forgot to switch the lens to the close focusing setting so all the photos of this Northern Flicker were slightly out of focus.
