The announcement of spring is usually accompanied by robins in the yard. In Wrangell it is the hordes of eagles that fill the skies. I walked outside on our deck this morning and immediately counted eleven. I went inside to tell Christina and when I came out there was 22 in the sky. I took a few pictures of them and while doing so this raven interrupted the photo session.
An old barn by petroglyph beach.
Mountains.
I was walking near the airport when I looked up and spotted this eagle carrying a branch. I quickly pulled the camera out of the backpack and snapped a few shots as it flew over me.
We had a nice 20mph SE wind on St. Patty's Day. Perfect for eagles to soar near Mount Dewey. Too bad I didn't figure out how to get a decent shot until later. These are a couple of my beter photos.
The eagles would circle right in front of me and sometimes directly above me.
Used a polorized filter to capture the blue skies.
Christina borrowed a couple lenses from our friends. These three pictures were taken with a Canon EF 70-210mm from our loft. Notice the SUNSHINE! I've (Quent) been in Ketchikan for the last couple weeks and have missed this sight.
A small lenticular cloud formed the morning of February 28 over Woronkofski Island. There is another peak on the island that another lenticular formed over. In fact, most of the peaks along the west side of Zimovia Strait had lenticulars hovering over them in the pre-dawn light.
