I may be in a cloud but my trusty skis are beside me. The light isn't too bad now but later it became just about the flattest light I have skied in. November 26, 2005. Same day as the next picture. Difference is two hours and about 2200'. Note the snow up to the bindings on the skis, about 25 inches.

Skis... Check! Poles.... Check! Snow.... Check! Just need some climbing gear to get to the top of the trees where the snow resides.

A tree just after sunrise next to the trail going up to the North Wrangell High Country Shelter. This picture was taken 10/5/05, the same day I took my sister to the high country shelter.

North Wrangell High Country Shelter was getting some use when I took this picture Saturday afternoon, October 29. Most of the earlier snow had melted but new snow was falling fast.
Captivating!
Another glance from the jet.
View from the jet at the glaciers and mountains between Juneau and Anchorage. Christina went to Anchorage for a few days. This is what I call ALASKA!

Quent fishing...except we don't think there's any fish in Long Lake.
Shadow the Cute.
"...high on the hill...yodalady, yodalady, yodalady, yoda-whoo-whoo-whoo...one little girl in the pale pink coat heard..." (Christina yodeling...sorta!)

Snow-capped mountains above the fog.
Sunrise from the high country shelter. What looks like water is not water, it's actually fog.
View of the continental US from Spur Road. The snow has come!

The next four pictures contain humpback whales breaching near Angoon, Alaska. It is incredible to see animals of this size playing the way they do. The following pictures appear to be in sequence. However, these pictures were taken in a span of about five minutes from the first breach to the last. In fact, I'm not even sure if the whale in the pictures was the same one. I saw this particular pod of six or seven whales three consecutive days after work.
Very nice.
This is the most nicest shot they gave me. After this particular breach, my co-worker with 30 years of SE Alaskan experience, commented that he had never seen a humpback whale completely out of the water, tail and all, like this one was a moment after this picture was taken.
The Splash!
Inside a limestone cave I found in SE Alaska, looking out at the world. I took this picture while holding the camera above my head.

This picture was taken from the Shoemaker Bay Overlook looking over Zimovia Strait to the North. Mitkof Island is visible in the background with its larger mountains.

The creek was FULL of salmon. It was unbelievable!
Black bear carrying a fish in its mouth.
A black bear catching a salmon at the Anan Bear Observatory. It was so neat to watch the bears.
Wild blueberries (we picked about 10 cups!).
